Frequently Asked Questions
Will animated GIFs remain animated?
No. PNG is a static image format and does not support animation. Our converter extracts the first frame of animated GIFs and converts it to a static PNG image. For animated formats, consider WEBP or APNG.
What happens to GIF transparency?
PNG supports alpha transparency. When the browser decodes transparency from the selected GIF frame, the Canvas PNG export can preserve those transparent pixels. Animation and GIF-specific metadata are not preserved.
Can I convert GIFs with text or graphics?
The converter can process many common GIF images, including graphics, photographs, logos, and text-based artwork. Animated GIFs use the first rendered frame.
What file size limits exist?
Our converter can handle GIFs up to 50MB. For larger files, consider compressing them first or breaking them into smaller pieces.
Is the conversion process secure?
Image conversion is performed in the browser. When you continue to download, the generated PNG result is passed through the site's download-result flow.
Which GIF types are supported?
Common static and animated GIF files can be converted. Animated GIFs produce a static PNG from the first rendered frame.
