PDF and Word documents are built differently. A PDF records content on fixed pages, while DOCX is designed for editing and flowing text. This converter therefore focuses on extracting usable text rather than rebuilding every visual element of the PDF.
You can process the complete document or select a page range. When a page does not contain usable embedded text, OCR can be used as a fallback.
What Happens to Scanned Pages
Scanned PDFs often contain images of text rather than text that can be selected or copied. For those pages, OCR attempts to recognize the visible characters and place the recognized text into the Word document.
OCR is not exact. Scan quality, page rotation, unusual fonts, handwriting, background noise and small characters can affect recognition.
